Title: The Genetic Basis of Opioid Dependence Vulnerablility in a Rodent Model
Goal Statement: This project will employ advanced behavioral models and an integrated high throughput genomics approach to examine outbred rats for vulnerability or resistance to the development of compulsive opiate self-administration. The results will facilitate understanding of the biological basis for opioid abuse disorders and advance development of preventive strategies and more efficacious treatments for substance abuse disorders.
